Boat maker Intrepid Powerboats is facing a lawsuit in Broward County over an alleged warranty denial connected to a vessel that flooded, according to the Boca Post.

Boat warranty disputes are their own strange corner of Florida litigation. Unlike cars, boats have no lemon law here, so buyers who believe they got a defective vessel usually end up arguing breach of warranty or deceptive trade practices instead.

The complaint centers on flooding, which for any boat owner is about the most serious defect claim there is.

The allegations have not been tested in court, and the company will have the opportunity to answer the complaint.

For South Florida boat buyers, the practical takeaway is boring but real: get every warranty promise in writing, document every service visit, and photograph everything. The paper trail is usually what decides these cases.
